The Affordable Care Act (ACA) is a comprehensive health reform law that is sometimes referred to as "Obamacare". Under the ACA, individual medical plans are required to cover ten “Essential Health Benefits” to be recognized as a "Qualified Health Plan" ("QHP") and provide “minimum essential coverage” (“MEC”) to enrollees. Residents of certain states may not be able to enroll in ACA-compliant health insurance plans through our website. Premium tax credits are not guaranteed and are subject to eligibility requirements determined in the Marketplace.

Comprehensive medical coverage is not provided by Short Term Medical Insurance plans (“STM”). STM does not fall under the MEC as defined by the ACA and may not cover all Essential Health Benefits. Plans generally do not cover pre-existing conditions and may have financial limitations on health benefits. Check your plan carefully before enrolling. Plans are subject to medical underwriting and may have lifetime and/or annual dollar limits on health benefits coverage.

Fixed/Limited Indemnity Plans are supplemental to health insurance plans and are not a replacement for insurance nor a substitute for the MEC required by the ACA. Indemnity Plans typically do not cover pre-existing conditions and typically pay the plan holder up to the fixed benefit amount for the covered services. If you are eligible for or on Medicaid, these payments may affect your Medicaid coverage and/or eligibility so be sure to check your Medicaid agency for more information.
